JoAnn Lascelles Thomas, 77, of Bath, passed away at her home on Monday, June 30, 2025. She was born on October 26, 1947 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Lyle and Ruby (Mibbs) Lascelles.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Maxette (Ed) Ratliff of Bluffs, Illinois and Darrin Workman of Bath; grandchildren, Matt Ratliff of Texas, Quentin Ratliff of Jacksonville, and Sara (Jeff) Runyon of Jacksonville; two great-grandchildren, Brock and Faith Runyon; brother, Lyle D. (Mary) Lascelles of Havana; sister, Joyce Pettijohn of Lincoln; one nephew; and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Morris Pettijohn; one nephew; and long-time companion, Marvin Steging.
JoAnn was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She was employed at Mason District Hospital in Havana and retired after 26 years. She was also a welder for International Harvester, Caterpillar, AgRain, and Atwood for a total of 16 years. When she was able, JoAnn loved to go to thrift stores and yard sales. She liked to travel with friends and family, was famous for her chicken and noodles, and would help everyone she could.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church in Snicarte, with a visitation prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mike Hopps will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Bath Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in JoAnn's name to her family. Online condolences can be left for her family at www.hurleyfh.com.
