Joel Lon Woodard passed away Friday, June 27, 2025. He was born February 27, 1981, in Provo, Utah, to parents Lonnie H. Woodard and Nancy Sue Gleason Woodard. As the sixth of six children, he was raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah, where he attended school and formed many lifelong friendships.
From an early age, Joel showed an aptitude for music. With a particular affinity for the guitar, playing melodies seemed innate to him. He loved to sit around a fire with family and friends, often playing and singing originals he wrote.
Those who knew him saw a gentle soul, always awake to the world around him, characterized by a quiet strength and empathetic heart. He continually found ways to serve others.
Despite facing inner battles that were not always visible, Joel left a lasting impression of kindness and resilience.
Joel also had a deep love for motorcycles and all things wheeled, spending hours in the foothills above his childhood home as well as traveling with his brother Lincoln across country to Rally events. He loved racing and was a natural driver. He excelled in Karting winning many events.
Joel adored his 10 nieces and nephews, was always looking out for them and was so proud of the lives they lead. He wanted nothing more than to have a family of his own someday.
He was a beloved friend, brother, and son, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Joel is survived by his father, Lonnie Woodard (Nancy Griner), his sister Lori Richey (Jeff), 10 nieces and nephews, his paternal grandmother Arloa, his partner, Elizabeth Mangum as well as many friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Gleason Woodard, his sister Claire Marie and his brothers Michael, Lincoln and Geoffrey.
We will celebrate his life Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 3:00 pm in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, UT. Family and friends may attend a visitation from 2:00 – 2:45 pm prior to the service.
An open house for family and close friends will follow at 3847 East Spy Glass Drive, Eagle Mountain, Utah.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
