Born on February 5, 1954, John was the beloved husband of 49 years to Mary Ellen Brockhausen, and devoted father to Dr. Christy Brockhausen (Nelson Santos), John A. Brockhausen, III (Lizette Brockhausen), and Jennifer Castro (Raymond Castro). He was the proud grandfather to Emilio Acosta, Tasha and Alexa Brockhausen, and Sara Carmen Santos, and was blessed to be great-grandfather to Leilani Olivia Bernard.
He is also survived by his sister MaryJane Brockhausen MacNair, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Lifelong resident of Peekskill, John worked for the Peekskill City School District and the Franciscan Sisters of the Peace. He was known for his steady presence, strong work ethic, quiet generosity, and fierce devotion to his family. Everything he did was for the people he loved.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th, from 2-6 PM at O'Mara & Carpentieri Funeral Home in Verplank, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's honor to: Franciscan Sisters of Peace, 20 Ridge St, Haverstraw NY, 10927.

Sending thoughts and prayers. Words cannot express how great of a man Mr. Brockhausen was. He truly may have been one of the kindest people I have ever met. Again, sending thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
