John Cramer Obituary

John Michael Cramer, age 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on July 3, 2025 at his home in Indianapolis, IN after watching a John Wayne movie with his son.
John was born on June 3, 1940 in Peoria, IL, to the late Michael John and Edna (Koch) Cramer. He married Judy Ann Goebel on June 10, 1961 in Washington, IL. She survives. Also surviving are their five children, Michael Cramer of Yuma, AZ, David (Teresa) Cramer of Lafayette, IN, Mary Jo Cramer of East Peoria, Rick (Angie) Cramer of Kissimmee, FL and Karen (John) Salverson of Brimfield, IL. He also had 16 grandchildren: Jonathan Cramer, Jordan Cramer, Jovan Cramer, Ryan (Hilary) Cramer, Ben Cramer, Adrienne (Javier) Diaz, Lizzie (Evan) Cooley, Mark Cramer, Nick Cramer, Mackenzie Cramer, Brian Cramer, Audrey Cramer, Matthew Cramer, Emma Salverson, Alexa Salverson and Anna Salverson, and also two great-grandchildren, Will Cramer and August Cooley. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Bridget Lee Cramer.
John worked at Caterpillar, Inc for over 39 years, retiring in 2002. He loved magic, photography and watching his western movies and shows. John enjoyed outdoor activities like horseback riding and snowmobiling. He was a long-time member of Whiskey Row Renegades. He enjoyed volunteering at the Historic Elks Theater in Prescott, AZ and at the Fred Harman Museum in Pagosa Springs, CO. He was also a volunteer guide at Chimney Rock National Monument in Colorado.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Friday, July 11, 2025 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Peoria, Il. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West Peoria, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice in John's name.
