Of St. Mary's, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the age of 35.
John was born on September 26, 1989, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, the son of LaVerne and Mary Jane (Pede) Davenport. He was raised in Dixon, Illinois, and graduated from Dixon High School in 2008. As a gifted athlete, John set school records in track and cross country and was equally talented in music, playing the sousaphone and tuba and participating in school musicals.
Following high school, John attended the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, where he earned his certification as a motorcycle mechanic. He later chose a path of service and enlisted in the United States Navy as a submariner. Over the course of his 13-year military career, John was stationed in Bremerton, Washington; Norfolk, Virginia; and most recently at Kings Bay in Georgia. He was well-respected by his peers for his work ethic, skill, and dedication.
John will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit and zest for life. He was a devoted and loving father, a supportive brother, a caring son, and a loyal friend to many.
He is survived by his beloved children, Travis Beau Davenport and Eliza Opal Davenport; his parents, LaVerne and Mary Jane Davenport; siblings, Sylvia (TJ) deWolde, Daniel (Elizabeth) Davenport, and Jennifer Davenport; nieces and nephews, Sophia, Abigail, and David deWolde, and Leo and Logan Davenport; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in the coming weeks.
