John Kenneth Duty, 73, of Peru passed away at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Friday, July 4, 2025.
He was born in Hickman, Kentucky to the late Billy Joe Duty and Henrietta Ann (McCann) Oaks on August 14, 1951. John worked in construction building homes until his retirement.
John was a very skilled guitar player and was in a band for most of his life. He was a hardworking man and the best dad anyone could ask for.
He is survived by his long-time girlfriend, Debbie Olinger of Peru, five children; Joni Duty of Peru, Jesse Duty of South Carolina, Candy Duty of Marion, Crystal Stambaugh of Peru, Jennifer (Stephen) Shaffer of Peru, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, siblings; Terry Duty of Peru, Allen Duty of Peru, Latina (Robert) Hoagland of Peru, and mother of his children, Rose Stambaugh.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his siblings; Joe Duty, Regina Runkle, Peggy Duty, and mother of his three oldest children, Linda Duty.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. The funeral service will follow at 4:30pm.
