JOHN LEROY HALL
July 10, 1936 - July 5, 2025
John Leroy Hall, lovingly known as "Roy" passed away on July 5, 2025, just five days shy of his 89th birthday. Born on July 10, 1936, to Virginia Mills Hall and John William Hall, Roy was raised alongside his three sisters: Shirley, Lavell, and Elaine. At a young age, Roy stepped up to become the man of the house, working tirelessly to help provide for his family.
Throughout his life, Roy wore many hats, working at Nick's Market, becoming a skilled butcher and mechanic, and taking on various jobs to support those he loved. His true passion, however, was cars. He had an incredible gift for mechanics and bodywork, able to transform wrecked cars into like-new condition.
In August of 1956, Roy married the love of his life, Shelia Hatch. They shared 68 wonderful years together and were sealed for eternity. Family was Roy's greatest joy, and together he and Shelia raised four children: Roy Craig (Evelyn), Randy, Kelly (Rusty), and Clint (Sindy). His love extended to his 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
In 1976, Roy fulfilled his dream by building and owning his own business: Hall's Body Shop, a proud achievement that stood as a testament to his hard work and dedication. Roy was known not only for his hard work but for his sharp wit and sense of humor, which remained with him even in his final days. His playful sayings, quick comebacks, and laughter will be remembered by all who knew him.
He taught his children the value of hard work, self-reliance, and perseverance --lessons that have become part of their own lives and the generations that follow. His legacy is one of resilience, love, and quiet strength.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Shelia; his parents; three sisters; 3 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
We are deeply blessed to have called him Dad, Papa, and Gramps. We will cherish the memories of our time with him, until we meet again.
A viewing/visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Owens Livingston Mortuary Chapel, 84 E. 19 S., Snowflake, Arizona. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. at Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery.
