John C. Howard, 50, of Dows, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Morgan United Methodist Church, 569 100th Street, rural Dows. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Ewing Funeral Home, 114 East Ellsworth Street in Dows.
John Charles, son of Homer and Linda (Barling) Howard, was born on March 21, 1975 in Hampton and grew up in Dows. Johnny graduated from Dows High School in 1993. Over the years, he held a variety of jobs – helping local farmers, working for a cable company that took him across the country, and later working at AGP in Eagle Grove. Most recently, Johnny was employed at the NEW Coop feed mill outside of Dows.
His daughter, Rebel, was the center of his world. He was proud to be a girl dad to Caitlyn and Lynzie as well. Johnny enjoyed the simple things: riding bikes with Rebel, fishing, woodworking, and tending his vegetable garden.
Johnny is survived by his daughters Rebel, Caitlyn, and Lynzie; father Homer Howard of Dows; brother James Howard of Dows; special friend Shannon Sturgeon of Dows; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother Linda Howard in 2016.
