A Mass of Christian Burial for John Carl Jauch, 78, of Granville, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 785 Newark-Granville Road, 10 A.M., Tuesday, July 29, 2025, with Fr. Timothy Hayes as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Newark, with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. John, a 1965 graduate of Aquinas High School, died peacefully at The Laurels of Heath on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 11, 1947, to the late Richard K. and Margaret Louise (Smith) Jauch. A United States Navy veteran, John was a Petty Officer 3rd Class serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS FDR. He retired from DSCC where he was employed for many years and was also a lifetime member of the VFW. John was a longtime active member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, where he was an RCIA team volunteer, Resurrection Choir member, and Eucharistic minister. In addition, John was a 3rd Degree Knight and past Grand Knight of the St. Edward Knights of Columbus Council 100876 (charter member). John was also a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Bishop Michael J. Ready Assembly 0830. In his free time, John was an avid camper and member of the "Licking County Fre-loders" camping group. John will be greatly missed by his daughter, Michele (Dan) Lehman; son, Robert Jauch; grandchildren, Margaret (Joe) Roy and Brant Lehman; great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Josie Roy; sister, Carol McDonnell; and brother, James Albert Jauch. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn A. (Myers) Jauch; and brother-in-law, Robert McDonnell. Calling will be held at the funeral home, 4-6 P.M., Monday, July 28, with a Vigil Service held at 6 P.M. and honor guard provided by the Bishop Ready Assembly. The family requests memorials in John's name be made to the Licking County Department of Disabilities or your local Alzheimer's Association. So very sorry for your loss. John and I were classmates at Aquinas. Was always good to see him at our monthly get togethers.
