Mr. John Michael McQuilton, Sr., age 81, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at his residence. Born on December 7, 1943, in Pensacola, Florida, he was the son of the late John Quinton McQuilton and the late Elizabeth Norene Smith McQuilton. Mr. McQuilton served his country with dignity, honor, and courage in the United States Army where he was a rifle marksman. After serving in the Army, Mr. McQuilton went on to work for the US Post Office as a postal clerk until his retirement. Mr. McQuilton loved to go fishing with his sons and grandsons and was a member of the Catholic Church of The Resurrection in Loris, SC.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Mrs. Patricia Frances Roman McQuilton; sons, John Michael McQuilton, Jr., and Matthew Patrick McQuilton; daughter, Maureen Elizabeth Daley (Jason); six grandchildren, Olivia McQuilton, Lila McQuilton, Jason Daley, Leonard Daley, Colden McQuilton, and Mark McQuilton; brother, William McQuilton; sisters, Rose M. Griffin, Anne Casto (Howard), and Bonnie Rogers; brothers-in-law, John Roman (Elizabeth), and Lawrence A. Roman Jr. (Ilyse); sisters-in-law, Jean Winum (Laurence), and Virginia Holzapfel (Merv); and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McQuilton was predeceased by his sister, Patricia McQuilton, and brother-in-law, Gary Roman.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Catholic Church of the Resurrection with Father Ray Leonard officiating. Committal services, with military honors, will follow on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Florence National Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the Catholic Church of the Resurrection, 204 Heritage Rd, Loris, SC 29569, or Wounded Warriors, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KA 66675.
