John Wayne Montgomery, age 67, of Sumner, MO; passed away Monday evening, June 23, 2025, at his home in Sumner, MO.
John Wayne was born on June 18, 1958, to the late Charles and Della (Crandell) Montgomery, in Brookfield, MO. On June 6, 1988, he married Cindy Lou Holtman in Brookfield, MO. He loved working on lawnmowers and hunting for deer, ducks and goose. He liked helping with the choirs around home, feeding the goats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, turkeys, and geese. John was always on the go, he would go to Brookfield, Laclede, or just into town Sumner and for no pictural reason, just to get out. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
John is survived by his wife, Cindy of Sumner; five daughters, Melissa Holtman of Sumner, April Waltz of Sumner, Tricia Montgomery of Sumner, Heather Montgomery of Chillicothe, and sherry Montgomery of Sumner; one son, Kamron Hoag of Chillicothe; four grandchildren with one coming in November; one great grandchild coming in January; and several other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob Montgomery.
Celebration of life visitation will be held from 5:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Rhodes Funeral Home in Brookfield, MO. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Family for expenses in care of Rhodes Funeral Home and can be left at or mailed to Rhodes Funeral Home, 216 Linn Street, Brookfield, MO. 64628. Online condolences can be made at www.rhodesfh.com
