John W. Obermier, 59, of Lubbock, was gently lifted into heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 31, 2025. John was born on December 20, 1965, in Burnet, Texas, and has lived in Lubbock at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center since July 1, 1969, at the age of 3.
John was a very happy person that loved any type of music. He loved to be touched and loved on, especially liking his head and ears to be rubbed. His big, bright blue eyes and beautiful smile would just speak to you. John was like a big teddy bear, very easy going and was a sweet, gentle giant. He will be greatly missed by all at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center.
John is survived by his LSSLC family, fellow peers and roommates.
Visitation for John will be on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the LSSLC Chapel. A brief service will follow at 1 PM with LSSLC Chaplain Wayne Moore officiating. Final rites and interment will follow at 2 PM in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, where John will be laid to rest. Services are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
