John E. Palmer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 5, 2025, at his home in Winter Haven, Florida, at the age of 78. Born on September 25, 1946, in Winter Haven, Florida, to Thomas and Juanita Palmer, John spent his formative years in Wahneta, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors that would define much of his life.
After graduating high school, John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, embodying the values of courage and commitment. His adventurous spirit was evident in his passion for fishing and hunting, and he was known for his daring escapades, including his infamous encounters with alligators while trying to catch them. John's love for nature and the thrill of the outdoors was a testament to his vibrant personality and zest for life.
Professionally, John was a skilled carpenter, dedicating many years of his life to Moretrench Industrial, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. His craftsmanship and work ethic were a source of pride for him and a legacy that will be remembered by those who knew him.
In 1976, John welcomed his daughter, Lisa, into his life, a bond that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. He cherished his role as a father and later as a grandfather, finding great happiness in the lives of his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Joseph, and Rosie. His family was his greatest treasure, and he took every opportunity to share his love and wisdom with them.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Cecilia Palmer; his daughter, Lisa Palmer Ibasfalean (John); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lawrence (Tyler); great grandchildren, Joseph, and Rosie; and his loving siblings, Diane Powell (Howard) and Janice Cooper (Gary). He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of John's life will be on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 5pm at his sister's Diane's house, where family and friends will gather to share stories, memories, and the joy he brought into their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local charity that supports veterans, honoring John's service and commitment to his country.
John E. Palmer will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his adventurous spirit, his unwavering love for his family, and his indomitable zest for life. May he rest in peace.
