Our "Captain" John Henry Pebsworth, age 54, of Rockport, Texas passed away peacefully in his home on July 1, 2025 surrounded by the "Love of his life", Robin, and both sons, Zachary & Derrek.
John was born in San Diego, California December 10, 1970 to Ray and Diane Pebsworth. John began working at Walmart after graduation in1989 from Howe High School. His career expanded to the oil & gas industry at the age of 20 years old. It spanned 25 years in the field. In 1997 John met "His Robin", and they began their life together in Avery, Texas. They started a youth group, which became not only a "group", but also a testimony in many of their lives. John was also a Mason at the Masonic Lodge 921 in Avery, Texas.
In 2010 their journey carried them to Rockport, Texas, and their lives began a new chapter. Although still working in the oil & gas industry, wanting to be home and with his wife and family he began a new career with the City of Rockport working the gas and water division. In December of 2023, a new adventure presented to him through Craig & Jennifer Potts, and together they began "Rockport Ride". To know John, you know his heart and soul was helping everyone around him and he was able to use his compassion to guard and make safe all the ones he transported. As one of his most loved frequent passengers, Jennifer Plummer shared that in her phone she had his number saved as "John Rockport Ride or Die", and he would always answer her calls like that.
"Captain John", as he was also known, had a passion for the waves and making memories with his fishing guide business. Being on the water was his "happy place", and teaching the youth to fish was not only for them, but it was an honor and accomplishment for him as well.
John had a passion for hunting and the outdoors including duck, turkey, deer, and anything else he could alongside his sons, Zach and Derrek and his grandson, Zander and his special buddies, Dustin Loggains, Tim Ford. John is survived by his wife of 28 years, Robin, and sons, Zachary Jasso & wife, Brittany, Derrek Pebsworth and his wife, Allyson. His grandchildren, Zander Ray Jasso "Pawpa's Fish Bait", Isaac Henry "Pawpa's Shark Bait", Charlotte Jean, and Carter Layne Pebsworth; His mother, Diane Pebsworth; sisters, Tara Cook, and Della Pebsworth, and father-in-law Robert Oefinger. He is also survived by numerous sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, his loving pets, Bebe and Fiona, and the most amazing friends ever. He is preceded in death by his father Ray Pebsworth, his "little grandma" Walter, and his mother-in-law Sandra Oefinger.
