John F. Phillips, resident of Bicknell, Indiana and formerly of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at his residence in Bicknell on Saturday, April 19, 2025. He was 47 years old.
John was known as "Freddie" by family and friends. He was born on September 18, 1977 to the late Reverend Kenneth C. Phillips and the late Virginia R. (Moore) Phillips in Huntsville, Alabama. John attended the Loogootee School Corporation, while he did not graduate, he did obtain his GED through the North Knox School Corporation.
John was involved in the healthcare industry (Martin County Health and Rehab Center in Loogootee, In), food industry (McDonald's in Bicknell, IN), Manufacturing (Jasper Officer Furniture Company in Jasper, Indiana) and the automotive industry (Jasper Engines in Jasper IN Toyota Boshoku Indiana in Princeton, IN, and Futaba Indiana of America in Vincennes, IN). He loved to cook and was an avid weather watcher. He was also involved with the North Knox Social Ministries in Bicknell. He was an avid fan of Ryan Hall Y"all and Ragical The Unhallowed Knight on YouTube.
He was raised in the Baptist and Wesleyan traditions. He previously attended Abundant Grace House of Prayer in Sullivan, IN.
He is survived by his two sisters, Darlene (Phillips) Chandler of Oaktown, IN and Leeza (Phillips) Adams of Loogootee, IN. His brother Kenneth Phillips of Bicknell, IN. also survives him. He is also survived by various nephews and nieces, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Joseph Phillips, brother in law Michael Chandler, his grandparents to name a few.
Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel of Bicknell arranged cremation services.
Memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local food pantries
