John Radley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home - Derby on Aug. 15, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

John S. Radley, Sr. age 78, of Derby entered into rest on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was the devoted husband of 34 years to Debbie (Hebert) Radley. John was born in Bridgeport on May 10, 1947, son of the late Jerimiah and Helen (Mikos) Radley and was a Fairfield resident for most of his life before moving to Derby seven years ago. He was a tool and die maker for Moore Special Tool for 50 years until his retirement.

John was the beloved father of John (Stacy) Radley, Jr., James Radley, Jody (Win) Koch, Edward (Cathy) Beck and Carin (Bill) Florin, loving grandfather of Samantha (J.R. Brickett) Beck, Krystal Radley Pixley, Mathew Beck, Kasey Girard, Emily Florin, Dani Florin and Bree Girard and brother of Mary Barocsi.

John will be remembered by those who loved him for his intelligence, caring, and quick wit. During his working years, he would bring home the joke of the day, rarely forgetting any of them and building a vast repertoire that came in handy when he met someone new.

Technical, hands-on skills were central to John's career, his hobbies, and his household projects. From remodeling two houses and doing most of the work himself to building furniture that will outlast us all, John was always working on something. Combined with his love for the New York Jets and passion for golf, he lived a full life.

Most of all, John loved his wife, Debbie, and his entire family. He was always available to everyone, welcoming children, grandchildren, and others who became like family into their home for a cookout, a conversation, or a full holiday meal. A highlight of the last decade was when John and Debbie renewed their marriage vows before God, family, and friends on their 25th anniversary. Then showed off their dancing skills in Carin and Bill's driveway at the backyard party that followed.

On Saturday, August 23rd, friends may greet the family from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Shelton, 188 Rocky Rest Rd., Shelton. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.

The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton has been entrusted with the arrangements. Friends may leave condolences at www.riverviewfh.com.
