Auburn: John Gregory Tite, 83, of Auburn, passed away on Sunday, July 13 2025, at the Holy Trinity Nursing Center in Worcester.
He is survived by several cousins. John was born in Southbridge, MA, son of the late Gregory L. and Androniq (Zhidro) Tite and was also predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Tite and Elizabeth Tite.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, He also received a Master's degree in Education from Worcester State College as well as a Master of Science degree at Clarkson College of Technology in Potsdam, NY. John taught Mathematics for the Grafton Public School system for decades. Early in his career, he earned the leadership position of Chairperson of the Mathematics Department and Calculus Instructor. John also spent 3 years as an Adjunct Professor of Calculus at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. In the intervening years, John was an In-service instructor of Metrics for High School and Elementary School teachers.
John was recognized as an individual who had demonstrated outstanding achievements in his field of endeavor by being listed in: Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who among America's Teachers and Who's who in the World.
Galileo Galilei said: Mathematics is the language in which God has written the universe. John had a beautiful mind to understand it. He sought to understand both the physical world and the divine through reason and observation. John had a genuine love for Mathematics and shared that passion with his students throughout his career as a talented and dedicated math teacher.
John was a very devoted son, and loving brother of both of his sisters Dorothy and Elizabeth. He was also a caring nephew for his uncle Peter after Peter decided to go back and join his family in Albania after retiring from working in the US. John sent his uncle Peter various items from the US that his uncle was missing and could not find in Albania. Being that both John and Peter were Red Sox fans, John used to send his uncle Peter letters in which, among other things, he would relay Red Sox scores. Sadly, his uncle, like many other fans never saw Red Sox win a championship, while John was lucky to see them win in 2004.
Family was everything to John. He knew that family togetherness wraps us in comfort, and strengthens us against any challenges life can bring. When his older sister Dorothy was hospitalized for several months in Boston, John would pick up his mother in Auburn and drive all the way to Boston every day to visit his sister and support her during a very difficult time.
Resilient, strong, and caring, most recently, John took very good care of his other sister Betty, visiting her every single day when she was ill in the Holy Trinity nursing home.
Being raised by a very traditional family with both parents from Permet, Albania, John inherited the best traits of his family: kindness, generosity, and hospitality. John demonstrated these characteristics many years ago in mid '90s when he met for the first time his cousins who came from Albania to settle in the US. Knowing and feeling that a part of his identity was missing for so long, John welcomed his cousins with an open mind, and a big heart, and made them feel home each time they would visit him and his sister Betty at their house in Auburn. And ever since, John, Betty and their cousins maintained a wonderful loving and caring relationship with each other, and created memories that will be cherished forever. John will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
He was a longtime member of both St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church of Worcester as well as St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church of Southbridge. May his memory be eternal!
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd, at 11:00am in St. Mary's Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St, Worcester. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Southbridge. A calling hour will be held in the church on Tuesday, July 22nd, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, prior to the service.
The Daniel T Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing the arrangements.
