John Steven Varriale, age 95, after a long and debilitating time with dementia, passed away with his wife, Dolores, by his side. John was born in Schenectady to Alphonso and Josie Varriale.
After leaving high school, John was employed by the General Electric Company. He retired from KAPL in 1990 after many years of employment.
In his retirement years he was forever available for whatever task his mother-in-law, Helen had with him in mind. He enjoyed playing cards with his wife and friends and traveling near and far by car or plane. There were a few fishing trips with friends and dropping in at a gambling casino with his wife.
John was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and 6 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Nancy Stewart, his sister-in-law, Marilyn Stewart and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private service for family at the graveside at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24 and a breakfast Celebration of John’s Life at the BELLEVUE CAFE, 2630 Broadway, Rotterdam on Tuesday, June 24 at 11 am where all family and friends are invited. Please call 518-355-5419 and we will save you a seat.
