Funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Murrell Bolton will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Mora Baptist Church, Mora, with Reverends Terry Ward and Rodney Helton officiating. Interment will follow in Mora Cemetery, Mora, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Bolton, 84, of Simpson, entered eternal rest on Friday, January 10, 2025, in his residence.
He was a faithful and lifelong member of Mora Baptist Church, where he tirelessly served as Sunday School teacher, song leader, and Chairman of the Cemetery Committee touching many hearts. He also felt a profound calling to support the widows of the church and community.
Johnnie's forty-four year tenure as a machinist at Dresser Industries in Tioga, was followed by a new chapter of devotion to his family, where he provided a rock solid foundation of love, support, and guidance. He also found joy in meticulously maintaining his yard and cherished the freedom of riding motorcycles with his sons. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Regenia Bolton; his parents, John and Thaney "Leva" Bolton; one grandson, Philip Beard; four brothers, J.B. Bolton, J.L. Bolton, Herman Bolton, and Hoyt Bolton; and three sisters, Verma Cedars, Bonnie Martin, and Opal Blackmon.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include two sons, Wendell Bolton (Wanetta) of Slagle, and Kendall Bolton (Yvette) of Comrade; three daughters, Jeanne Bolton of Pampa, Texas, Joelle Hall (Randy) of Hemphill, and Jonna Fender (Charlie) of Simpson; two sisters, Gladys Sterns of Bixby, Oklahoma, and Audie Radford of Alexandria; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his girl, Libby Pope of Simpson.
A time of visitation will be held at Mora Baptist Church, Mora, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Andrew Beard, Katlin Fender, Justin Bolton, Kasey Fender, Danny Carruth, and Kenny Dean. Honorary pallbearers will be Brentley Bolton, Charlie Fender, Randy Hall, Robert Funk, Ben Cosper, Roger Anderson, Winston Wise, Greg Blackmon, and Vince Campbell.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, Wendy Townley NP, and Companion Care Hospice. Additionally, we appreciate the love and support provided to us during this difficult time, whether in the form of a phone call, text message, or helping hand period.
