Johnny N. Carpenter Jr, 80, of Carpenter Branch Road passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Maggie Valley, he was the son of the Late Johnny and Fannie Carver Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, James Robert, William Frank, Joe Albert, Tommy Medford Carpenter and one sister, Marie Carpenter Sutton.

Johnny is survived by his life partner, Lynn Setzer and two brothers Harry (Betty) Carpenter, Donald (Debbie) Carpenter and many beloved nieces and nephews. Johnny loved his family and was loved and respected by everyone that knew him. He worked as a builder but mastered so much more. He approached every project with passion. His work ethics and values were unequaled.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the chapel of Smoky Mountain Cremations & Funeral Service with Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Millard Grant officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Neil Carpenter, Chase Carpenter, Dale McMahan, Jr. Ward, Wally Bryson, and Joe Steve Carpenter.
