Johnny Summers Obituary

Johnny Wayne Summers was born on March 13, 1948 in Floydada (Floyd County) Texas to David John Summers and Virgie Frances (Chambers) Summers. Johnny was a hard and dedicated worker who devoted his entire adult life to working in the grocery business and serving others. For many years, he was both the manager of the Pay & Save and Lowe's Market Grocery Store in Floydada and also served the Lowe's Market Grocery Stores as an area manager for many of the local stores. Johnny was active in the community with his favorite event being the local 4th of July celebrations with the Lowe's grocery stores for many years in both Floyd County and the surrounding towns.
On May 23, 1983, Johnny married Gerry (Taylor) Summers in Andrews, Texas. The couple was blessed with over 42 years of loving matrimony. Johnny was a devoted family member who loved spending time surrounded by his family. He really enjoyed being at the lake fishing, 'throwing the kids around on a tube', or watching his grandchildren play in the water.
Johnny is survived by his wife Gerry Summers of Floydada; his children, DJ, Teddy, Johnny Jr, Tonya, and Shonda; his sister, Frances Stephens of Lubbock; and his beloved eleven grandkids and his eight great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Teresa Michell Summers. He will be deeply missed.

My deepest condolences to the family of Johnny Summers. We worked together for many years and he always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was a fixture for many years in the grocery industry and schooled hundreds along the way. I will cherish the good times, stories and laughter.
I can picture him now in a starched long sleeve shirt , jeans and cowboy boots.
Rest easy my friend.
