Jon Cothrum Obituary

Jon Eric Cothrum, 62, of Edmond, Oklahoma, was born March 6, 1963 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Phillip and Roberta Conthrum. He passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025 in Oklahoma City.

As a child he loved to spend summers on the Mills Farm northwest of Mulhall, Oklahoma roaming the pastures, fishing, and horseback riding. Jon was a lifelong member of Henderson Hills Baptist Church and he was a Christian.

He graduated from Edmond High School in 1982. He loved football and while in school, he served as the football equipment manager. Jon attended classes at UCO, OU, and OSU and received credit. He worked at UCO and OU as football equipment manager for Barry Switzer. He also spent time at Missouri Southern University working summer football camps.

In 1995, Jon attended New Orleans Football Equipment Manager's Convention and in 1998, he attended the Phoenix, Arizona Football Equipment Convention.

From 1995 on, he was self-employed restoring and selling football helmets. He was employed by Texaco Star Mart, Paul Meade Insurance, Baptist Hospital, Harold Hughes Auto Detail, UCO, and Will Rogers Aviation.

Jon is survived by his mother, Roberta Cothrum - Castle; his brother, Tony; his sister-in-law, Cindy Cothrum; his uncle and aunt, Jack and Rebecca Mills; his uncle and aunt, Adrian and Ramonda Pollard; along with six cousins.

Funeral services for Jon will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Mulhall United Methodist Church with his Uncle Adrian Pollard officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Mulhall. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st Street, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.
