Joneen Hueni, beloved educator, devoted wife, and cherished grandmother, passed away on August 6, 2025, in Brenham, Texas. Born on December 3, 1941, in Freeport, Texas, Joneen grew up in Angleton before moving to Friendswood for a decade. She spent the last 45 years of her life in Bellville, where she forged a deep connection with the community and touched the lives of many. Joneen’s passion for teaching began after she graduated from Angelton High School and earned degrees from Lamar University and then Texas A&M University, ultimately achieving her PhD. She dedicated herself to education, teaching chemistry and science for five years at Sterling High School, and for 35 years at Bellville Junior High and Bellville High School. Her commitment to her students and her subjects illuminated many young minds and inspired countless individuals throughout her career.
On August 29, 1964, Joneen married Larry Hueni in Angleton, Texas. Together, they built a loving home and family. Joneen was a proud mother to Brian Hueni and a doting grandmother to her two granddaughters, Alexandra Hueni and Gwyndalyn Hueni. Her family was her greatest joy, and she found immense fulfillment in spending time with them. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Joneen had an array of hobbies that brought happiness to her life. She enjoyed fishing, making jewelry, and traveling, but above all, she cherished the moments shared with her grandchildren. These experiences brought her laughter and love, which she generously shared with those around her.
Joneen is survived by her husband, Larry Hueni; son, Brian Hueni; granddaughters, Alexandra Hueni and Gwyndalyn Hueni; and her brother, John Jefferson Stone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Stone.
Visitation for Joneen Hueni will be held on August 14, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville. A funeral service will take place the following day, August 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Schmidt Funeral Home, concluding at 12:00 PM.
Joneen Hueni will be remembered not only for her dedication to education but also for the love she fostered in her family and friends. Her spirit and legacy will live on through the lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Bellville High School's Science Olympiad program in Joneen's memory. Joneen helped establish and grow the Science Olympiad program at Bellville High School. Donations can be made by check to 'Bellville High School Science Olympiad' care of Bellville High School.
