Joni Marie Adams Smith age 48, of Mathiston, Mississippi passed away suddenly at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, Mississippi on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Joni was born in Batesville, Mississippi on July 24, 1977, to Rev. James Harmon Smith and Rita Jones Smith. She was a graduate of Sturgis High School in Sturgis, Mississippi and pharmacy technician. Joni was a member of LifePoint Church of God in Mathiston, Mississippi and enjoyed cooking, watching movies, singing in church with family and taking care of her daughter and grandson. Joni is survived by her husband, Richard Smith of Mathiston, Mississippi; two daughters, Kaitlyn Adams and Rachel Marie Adams; two sons, Peyton Adams and Parker Adams; one grandson, Charles "Charlie" Byrd; the father of her children, Roger Adams all of Mathiston, Mississippi; her mother, Rita Jones Smith; her father, Rev. James Harmon Smith of Sturgis, Mississippi and one brother, Jason Smith of Guntown, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ellis and Lois Jones and paternal grandparents, Rev. L.C. and Betty Smith. Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Joni will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at LifePoint Church of God in Mathiston, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation from 12Noon until time for services at 2:00PM at LifePoint Church of God. Interment will follow the services at Clarkson Cemetery in Webster County, Mississippi. Bishop Michael Mann will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Aidan Henley, Aiden Reed, Lawson Reed, Clifton Jernigan, Zayne James, Thomas Schiele, Danny P. Smith, Tim Avent, Billy Williamson and Nathan Avent. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all services for the Smith family.
