Jorge Herrera Obituary

Jorge Herrera who everyone knows and loves as "Lupe" was born in Nuevo Laredo. He traveled to Blue Island, IL in the late 1960's. Soon,thereafter, he met his beautiful wife, the love of his life, Gloria. They were married creating a life-long journey raising their three cherished children.
He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed sports. He was a self-taught guitar player and enjoyed singing and playing music with and for his family. He also loved playing cards, shooting pool, and always looked forward to saving up his quarters to play a good game of Loteria with his family, which he usually won. He especially loved family get-togethers, including road trips, camping, barbecues, and celebrating birthdays and holidays.
We will all miss his unique sense of humor which he has kindly passed on to his kids and grandkids. He leaves an abundance of love, laughter and guidance that will be cherished forever to those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Gloria (nee Alvarado) Herrera; his beloved children, Raquel (Ron) Lambert, Isabel (Chuy) Magaña, and Jorge (Melissa) Herrera Jr; his adored grandchildren, Jorgie, Mia, Mya, Nicolas, Cristian, Lily, Angelica, and Arya. a sister Rosa Serna, a brother Arnulfo Resendez and many nieces and nephews. He was also lovingly referred to as Grandpaw by Jinx, Dusty, Lucky, Vader, Spooky, Penny, and Henny.
Visitation Friday 7/11/25 from 3:00 PM until time of Funeral Service at 7:00 PM at the Hickey Memorial Chapel 2429 W. 127th St. Blue Island, IL.
