Jorge E. Ortiz lovingly known as Tio by many aged 83 of Central Islip, NY passed away on July 2, 2025.
Born on January 9, 1942, in Bogota, Colombia. He was the son of Genaro Ortiz and Josefina Ortiz. He was a cherished son, brother, godfather, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Jorge was a radio personality at a classical radio station in Colombia. He immigrated to the United States and worked as a car painter and then as a driver for Air Industries. He retired over ten years ago, and he was passionate about reading books, listening to music and gardening. He will always be remembered for his kindness, humor and humility.
He is survived by his sister Celia Guzman, nieces Rosemary Ortiz, Irma Delaney and nephews German Ortiz and Hector Guzman and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother German Ortiz and his mother Josefina Ortiz and father Genaro Ortiz
Visitation will be held Tuesday July 8th, 2025, from.5pm to 9pm at Moloney Funeral Home 130 Carleton Avenue Central Islip NY 11722
Funeral Mass will be held on July 9th, 2025, at 1030am at St. John of God Roman Catholic Church 84 Carleton Avenue, Islip NY 11722
Followed by his burial at Breslau Cemetery 340 Newark Street North Lindenhurst NY 11757
Jorge E. Ortiz, cariñosamente conocido como Tío por muchos, de 83 años, de Central Islip, Nueva York, falleció el 2 de julio de 2025.
Nacido el 9 de enero de 1942 en Bogotá, Colombia. Era hijo de Genaro Ortiz y Josefina Ortiz. Era un querido hijo, hermano, padrino, tío, tío abuelo, primo y amigo de muchos.
Jorge era locutor de radio en una estación de radio clásica en Colombia. Emigró a los Estados Unidos y trabajó como pintor de automóviles y luego como conductor para Air Industries. Se retiro hace más de diez años y le apasionaba leer libros, escuchar música y hacer jardinería. Siempre será recordado por su amabilidad, humor y humildad.
Le sobreviven su hermana Celia Guzmán, sus sobrinas Rosemary Ortiz, Irma Delaney y sus sobrinos German Ortiz y Héctor Guzmán y muchas sobrinas nietas y sobrinos. Le precedieron en la muerte su hermano Germán Ortiz y su madre Josefina Ortiz y su padre Genaro Ortiz.
El velorio se llevará a cabo el martes 8 de julio de 2025 de 5:00 p. m. a 9:00 p. m. en Moloney Funeral Home 130 Carleton Avenue Central Islip NY 11722
La misa fúnebre se llevará a cabo el 9 de julio de 2025 a las 10:30 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica Romana de San Juan de Dios, 84 Carleton Avenue, Central Islip NY 11722.
