Jose Cabalfin Jr, 75, of Chicago, Illinois was called home to Heaven on October 10, 2025 at Ascension Alexian Brothers - Hospice Residence, Elk Grove. He was born May 1, 1950 in Leon, Iloilo, Philippines. He was married to Filipinas Cabalfin for 43 loving years.
Jose was a man of quiet strength and unwavering devotion to his family. A man of few words, his love was best expressed through thoughtful actions and acts of service. He found joy in cooking for his family, an expression of his love. He was a keen collector of coins and a stubborn handyman, always finding a project in the house, whether it was fixing something broken or simply making an improvement.
His dedication to his family was absolute. He showed his love by visiting his wife every day, engaging in meaningful conversation with his children, and tirelessly caring for all of his grandchildren. Stoic, reserved, and reliably present, he leaves behind a legacy defined not by what he said, but by how much he gave.
He is survived by his wife Filipinas de la Flor Cabalfin; his children: Jose F. Cabalfin lll, Jonathan James Cabalfin, and Amy Lynn Joy Cabalfin Robins; his grandchildren: Christopher Joel Cabalfin, Matthew Ryan Cabalfin, Emilyn Mae Cabalfin, Nicholas David Cabalfin Robins; his siblings; his cousins; his nephews and nieces; his many great-nephews and great-nieces.
Celebration of Life will be held at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels, Roselle, on Sunday, October 26th, 2025 from 3:00PM to 9:00PM. The chapel service is on Monday, October 27th at 10:30AM. The burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Palatine.
