Joseph "Evan" Abner, 41, of Bedford, passed away on July 5, 2025, at his residence. He was born on May 7, 1984, to Robert "Les" Abner Jr. and Carol Craig Johnson.
Evan attended Bedford North Lawrence High School and was a Christian. He loved being outdoors and spending time on the family farm, but above all, his true love was spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving to cherish Evan's memory are his parents, Les Abner (Christina Keller) and Carol Lynn (David) Johnson; two sisters, Jessica Dawn Abner and Leslie Carol Abner; two brothers, Christopher Shawn (Kathy) Abner and Cooper Scott Abner; two nieces, Elaine Marie (Jake) Gulley and Hillary Renee Compton; one nephew, Colson Ray Abner; and several aunts and uncles, Joe (Debra) Craig and family, Cynthia (Bob) Wuerth and family, Janie McLean, Mary Ann (Rudy) Ault, and Sharon Shirley.
Evan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert L. Abner Sr. and Helen Abner; maternal grandparents, Joseph Albert Craig and Maxine Ruth Craig; and one uncle, Jeffrey Scott Abner.
Funeral services for Evan will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 11:00am, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, with Pastor Scott Salm officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00am, also on Monday, at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
