Joseph R. Bish, 81, of Candor, New York, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph Bish; mother, Virginia Johnson; brother, Raymond Winans; brothers in-law, George Tomaras, Bill Palmer. Joe married the love of his life, Rose Marie Jordan on June 14th, 1969. Joe leaves behind not only his wife, Rose, but his two children, Joe (Becca) Bish and Jolane (Rick) Ricardo; his three grandchildren, Aurora Ricardo, Pearl Ricardo and Owen Bish; two sisters, Sylvia Tomaras and Trudie (Bob) Young; his aunt, Sabra Isham; brothers in-law, Phil Jordan, Rick (Melanie) Jordan; sisters in-law, Phyllis Palmer, Ruth Anne (Mike) Dahl; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe's greatest joy in life was his ability to help his children in any way that he could. One of his greatest pleasures in life was watching his granddaughter, Pearl, compete in equestrian competitions. He was a good steward of the land that he lived on and was very interested in the protection and conservation of all land. Joe served his country and was a veteran of the United States Army. He served his community, retiring as the Town of Candor Highway Superintendent and serving 10 years on the Candor Town Council. Joe will be sorely missed by his family, but we are all so grateful to have had him in our lives for as long as we did. A private family graveside service will be held at the Barden Road Cemetery, in Candor, NY with the Reverend Pat Kinney and Reverend Phil Jordan, officiating. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at his home, 1400 Fairfield Road, Candor, NY, June 21, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe's memory to the Finger Lakes Land Trust, 202 East Court Street, Ithaca, NY 14850 or using an online form at www.fllt.org.
