He is also blessed with three great grandchildren: Ozaris Ruiz, Lotus Montoya, and Crue Ruiz. He has many nieces, nephews, and cousins that will miss him tremendously.
Ray attended the local Walsenburg school's Kindergarten through his senior year of high school. He was very smart and athletic. He attended the University of Colorado Boulder and majored in Business and Economics. He played football for CU for two years. Ray and Diann were married on August 1, 1968. They spent 52 years together. Ray's father put him on a horse at the age of 3. Ray ranched and ran cattle his entire life. He was an integral part of Faris Land & Cattle, and the Marlboro Inn. He became a real estate broker and was involved in selling land.
Ray was an avid sports fan, who loved watching, listening to, and reading about all the Colorado teams. He read lots of different books over the years. One of his favorite things to do was to walk the ranch and look for arrowheads. His collection is not like any other and is stunning. Ray was involved and active in the Huerfano Community Bible Church for 15 years. He and Diann were both baptized at Lathrop State Park. He shared his love for God with his grandchildren and everyone around him. He always said his church family was his second family.
Services for Ray will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at the Huerfano Community Bible church at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service at the Walsenburg Community Center. Cremation services are provided by Boise Ortega funeral home.
