Joseph Robert Gawel, age 89 of Ozark, passed away July 11, 2025. He was born April 18, 1936 in Chicago the son of Frank and Victoria (Pindora) Gawel.
Survivors include his children, Laura Gawel, Linda Gawel, Joelann Sundae and husband Steve, Joe Gawel and wife Chris; Denise Gawel-Andersen and spouse Annette; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Joe worked for General Mills Cereal company in Chicago for his entire working career after the Army. After he retired from General Mills he moved to Southwest Missouri. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and especially bowling.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 50+ years, Geraldine Marie (Gawrys) Gawel; and Rowan E. Cottrell, great grandchild.
Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory and arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
A memorial service will be held at Glenstone Baptist Church in Springfield at 11 a.m., August 2, 2025.
