Joseph Henson Obituary

Joseph Edward Henson 60, of Hurricane, WV passed away on Friday July 18, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Joe Eddy was born on November 23, 1964 to the late Joseph Franklin Henson and Mary Rose Breedlove Henson in Charleston, WV. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father in-law, William B. Isner Sr; and step-sister, Julie Dozier. He graduated from Hurricane High School in 1983 and later from WV State College in 1995. He was a meal delivery driver with Putnam Aging and Hometown Senior Center. Joe Eddy started his coaching career at Scott High School and later went on to coach at Hurricane Middle and High School from 1992 up until retirement in 2022 from Hurricane High School. Coaching was his passion, especially with all the gentlemen he coached with over the years as they were great friends. He coached hundreds of kids in multiple youth sports over the years, as well as refereeing for numerous years with WVSSAC. He is survived by his wife, Diane Isner Henson of Hurricane, WV; step-son, Evan Smallridge (Autumn) of Hurricane, WV; granddaughter, Bristol Smallridge of Hurricane, WV; step-mother, Frances K. Henson of Winfield, WV; step-brother, D.G. Blankenship of Winfield, WV; step-sisters: Jonny Workman (Dave) of Marianna, FL and Jackie Coleman (Will) of Red House, WV; sister in-law, Deborah Isner of Hurricane, WV; sister in-law, Karen Isner of Hurricane, WV; brother in-law, William B. Isner Jr. of Hurricane, WV, mother in-law, Mary Catherine Isner of Hurricane, WV; cousins: Tammy Holston (Ronald) of Winfield, WV and Christa Currey (Kevin) of Morgantown, WV; as well as numerous friends and extended family. Funeral Service for Joe Eddy will be 11:00am Thursday July 24, 2025 at Chapman Funeral Home Hurricane, WV with Minister Toney Stowers officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park St. Albans, WV. Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
