Joseph Mazur Obituary

Joseph "Joe" Mazur, of Buffalo, NY and Cherry Creek, NY, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 72. He was a proud U.S. Navy submariner, father, grandfather, die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, and true Genny Light lover. He may have been born and raised in the city, but Cherry Creek is where he loved to be most, whether hunting or working the land, or just shooting the bull with friends.
Born with grit, heart, and a quick wit, Joe lived life on his own terms. After dedicating 21 years to submarine service, served primarily in Groton, CT, he returned home to Buffalo with his wife, Marianne, and the two people he was proudest to call his own-his children, Mike (wife Jodi) and Angela (husband Michael). He later found his greatest joy in being "Papa Joe" to his three beloved grandchildren: Jadon (Lexi), JoiAnna, and Lucas, who brought out his soft side no sailor could.
Joe never lost his love for his time served on the submarines in the Navy or a cold can of Genny. In fact, if you ever saw him without one in hand, you were probably mistaken. He's gone, but not without leaving behind a wake of laughter, love, sarcasm, and unforgettable memories.
Fair winds and following seas, Joe. And Go Bills-wherever you are, we hope the Genny Light is cold and the Bills finally brought home that Super Bowl.
Visitations and a celebration of life will be held from 2-5p DiStasio Funeral Chapel, 478 NY-83, in South Dayton, NY. Please honor Joe and his love of the Buffalo Bills by wearing your best Bills paraphernalia.
