Funeral Mass for Joseph "Joey" Raymond Meche, Jr. of Morrow will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Cottonport with Fr. Charles Ray officiating. A rosary will be said at 12:40pm. Internment will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Joseph "Joey" Raymond Meche, Jr., age 64, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Opelousas General Hospital. "Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts." Joey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and deer, squirrel, and duck hunting. Before he retired, he was a heavy equipment operator. While he lived a simple life, he always had a story to tell, was always comical, and the life and laughter of every conversation.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lisa Meche of Morrow; his children: Ashley Foret (Lance) of Plaucheville, Casey Meche of Goudeau, Shane Meche (Nicole) of Denham Springs, and Kevin Meche of Prairieville; 4 grandchildren: Elijah Foret, Kinley Meche, Xander Meche, and Brianna Murray; sisters, Annette M. Albarado (Tony) of Prairieville and Wendy M. Moreau (Wiley) of Plaucheville. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Vicky Gauthier of Plaucheville, Randy Gauthier, Bobby Gauthier, and Huron Gauthier, Jr. (Casey) all of Cottonport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Meche, Sr.; mother, Lois Marcelle Rabalais (Gene); grandchild, Sawyer CheyAnn; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Huron Gauthier, Sr. and Sharon Gauthier.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers: Kevin Meche, Shane Meche, Lance Foret, Elijah Foret, Xander Meche, and Wiley Moreau, Jr. and serving as crossbearer: Kinley Meche.
Visitation will begin at 8:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura.
