Joseph "Joe" P. Vitucci Jr., age 77, of DeMotte, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Crown Point, Indiana. Joe was born on December 10, 1947, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Joseph Sr. and Helen (Slota) Vitucci. He was a proud graduate of Merrillville High School, Class of 1966. Shortly after, he served honorably in the United States Navy for two years. Joe spent over 30 years working as a signalman for the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway. He married Sharon Krulik in July of 2017, though they shared 37 years of love and life together. Joe was raised in the Catholic faith and lived a life full of energy and passion. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, shooting pool and darts, playing games on his phone, listening to music, and attending concerts. He loved tinkering in his garage, staying active, and especially spending time with his beloved dog, Jagger. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Vitucci; his stepchildren, Lisa (Paul) Davis and Michael McElroy whom he loved as his own; grandchildren: Dylan Davis, Matthew McElroy, and MaKaylee McElroy; his loyal dog, Jagger; and his brother, Gerald (Sherry) Vitucci. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Jackson Funeral Service in DeMotte. A funeral service will begin at 5:00 PM, officiated by Joseph Dansereau.
