Joyce Fidlow (Perry)
November 21, 1934 - April 5, 2025
Joyce Marie Fidlow
Joyce Fidlow, 90, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, in Scotch Plains, NJ. Joyce was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia.
She attended what is now known as Virginia Commonwealth University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, concentrating in Education. It was at college that Joyce met fellow student Daniel Henry Fidlow. After graduation, the couple married and moved north to Newark, eventually settling into Verona, NJ.
Joyce lived a full life in Verona. She was a caring mother who raised four children: Hal, Juliet, Richard, and Benedick. Joyce also had a special place in her heart for her cats. In addition to being a dedicated social worker, she relished her role as an activities director for senior citizens. Throughout her life, Joyce found joy in gardening, bird-watching, and, most of all, spending time with family. Every week, she hosted dinners and breakfasts to keep her family close and cherish moments with her nine grandchildren: Emily, Haley-Jo, Henry, Summer, Dakota, Jackson, Ryan, Jimmy, and Amaya Fidlow.
Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter, Juliet (2015). And she is survived by her sons Hal, Richard and Benedick. Besides being the matriarch of the Fidlow family, she had a significant impact on many friends, colleagues, and patients. And no one will forget her infectious laugh.
Visitation will be at Gray Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 am to 11 am. A graveside funeral service will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ.
