Joyce Griffin Obituary

Joyce Fay Griffin, age 73, of Independence, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Hospice of St. Elizabeth in Edgewood.

Born on January 4, 1952, in Covington, Kentucky, Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late William G. Williams and Martha Turner Williams. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman who retired from the Internal Revenue Service, where she served as a Tax Examiner.

Joyce’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Melissa Wittich, Michelle Henry (Bob), and Joshua Griffin; her grandchildren: S. Daniel Hutson (Lauren), Andrew Henry, Alexander Wittich (McKenna), Sophia Jones (Jaylon), Adam Wittich, Silas Griffin, and Riley Griffin; and her great-grandchildren: Oliver McPherson, Archer Wittich, and Willow Jones.

She is also survived by five siblings: Walton Fields, Carol Ann Barnett, Geraldine White, Shirley Mae Cooper (Glenn), and Mary Lou Lillie (Jack).

Joyce was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Elmer Lee Griffin, as well as her siblings: William Louis Williams, Fern Ratterman, Kenton Fields, Margie Fields Miller, Robert Lee Williams, Donald Ray Williams, David Michael Williams, and Lawrence Charles Williams.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel A, in Taylor Mill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Floral Hills Funeral Home to support Joyce’s memorial arrangements.
