Joyce (Guy) Whitmore, 94 of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Wellsburg Healthcare Center under the care of the staff with the assistance of Amedisys Hospice.
Joyce was born on August 29, 1930 in Wolverhampton, England. She was the daughter of the late Albert Guy and Ethel (Hollinshead) Guy.
Joyce lived an adventurous and fulfilling life. As the wife of a Royal Navy officer, she had the unique opportunity to travel the world along with her children, experiencing different cultures and places from a young age. Throughout her career, Joyce dedicated many years as a telephone operator and later transitioned into healthcare, where she served in administrative roles with care and diligence. She will be fondly remembered for her vibrant spirit and creativity. A proud member of the Red Hat Society, Joyce brought joy and friendship to those around her. Her talents extended to the arts through her beautiful oil paintings that captured the imagination and she nurtured an exquisite rose garden that reflected her love for beauty and nature. Joyce's legacy is one of warmth, elegance, and a life lived to the fullest.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Whitmore and a son, Steven Whitmore.
Joyce is survived by her two children, Shane Whitmore and his wife, Trina of Plasterville, CA and Julie Clark and her husband, Joseph of Beaver Falls, PA, four grandchildren, Shane, Kristy, Misty Kelley and her husband, Michael and Brittany, and numerous great grandchildren.
