Juan "Johnny" Pauda Martinez, 73, of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Revered David Contreras, Deacon John Nino, and Deacon Richard Martinez officiating. Burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Viewing and Visitation will be on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the funeral home from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. with the Rosary/Vigil service beginning at 6:00 P.M.
Juan was born on March 3, 1952, in Brownfield, Texas, to Jose and Petra (Pauda) Martinez. He met his wife of 51 years, Maria (Benavidez) Martinez, in Dimmitt; they were married on October 21, 1973. Juan owned and operated his Tire Shop in Dimmitt, worked for the City of Dimmitt, and Lowe's Market. He was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was faithful to read his Bible and pamphlets from the church as his eyesight allowed. He loved to spend time with his wife, siblings, children, and grandchildren, listening to Tejano music; he was always the life and laughter of the party. Juan was loving, welcoming, and accepting of everyone.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Maria Martinez of Dimmitt, Texas; children, JJ Martinez of Amarillo, Texas, Laura Monreal and husband Rudy of Dimmitt, Texas, and Delfina Sarinana and husband Edward of Live Oak, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Ashley Sanchez (Leo Saucedo), Cynthia Garcia, Desiree Sarinana, Jaime Moran (Serena Hernandez), Marissa Monreal, Alyssa Monreal, Edward Sarinana, Marium Monreal, Drake Sarinana, Klaryssa Sarinana, and Khloe Sarinana; three great grandchildren, Kayden, Kamryn, and Leilani Saucedo; siblings, Maria Vera, Feliz Nino (John), Rosie Flores, Luis Martinez, Max Martinez (Nora), Rudy Martinez (Bertha) all of Dimmitt, Texas, Lydia Ortegon (Raul), Gloria Ortegon (Randy), and Lisa Romero (David) all of Plainview, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Petra Martinez, brother Tony Martinez, and sister Estella Hogan.
