Judith Lee Buchanan (nee Welss), passed away peacefully Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Judy was born In Detroit to Stanley and Doraine Weiss. She attended St Clare School, Dominican High School and the University of Detroit where she met her husband, John A. Buchanan, Jr. (Al. They married and moved to Grosse Pointe Park. For many years Judy was an elementary school teacher in the East Detroit Schools. She and Al traveled extensively and later co-owned the Leigh Willmore travel agency in Grosse Pointe.
After retirement they moved to Bonita Springs, Florida where they enjoyed golf and friendships at Palmira Golf Club. After Al died, Judy moved to St Clair Shores and resided at Lakeshore Senior Living where she was close to family and many longtime friends, some since grade school A funeral mass will be held July 11, 2025 at St. Clare de Montefalco Church, 1401 Whittier Rd., Grosse Polnte Park.
Friends are welcome at 10:00 a.m. with mass at 1100 a.m
In her memory, the family suggests donations to the Pope Francs Center, 2915 W. Hancock St., Detroit, MI 48208.

So sorry to hear of Judy´s passing. She was a special friend and neighbor in Palmira for many years and always a gracious, kind and giving person . My prayers go out for her and her family. She and Al were a wonderful couple.
