LANCASTER, SC ~ Mrs. Judith "Judy" Miles Carter, age 69, passed away on July 7, 2025, at MUSC-Lancaster. Judy was born on April 10, 1956, in Lancaster, SC, a daughter of the late Cleo Miles and the late Willie Mae Cassidy Miles and was the wife of the late Maurice "Moe" Eugene Carter. Judy drove a school bus for Lancaster County School District in the Indian Land area. She loved greeting "her babies" every morning and every afternoon. Each child held a special place in her heart and she loved watching them grow each year.

Judy is survived by her two sons, Mason Eugene Carter (Kimberly), and Gary Wayne Carter; her daughter, Crystal Rosalie Carter; her eleven grandchildren, Cesar Carter, Hannah Henderson, Angel Carter, Raven Presnell, Alayna Carter, Marissa Carter, Donavan Carter, Gracen Carter, Aralyn Loftin, Payton Shute, and Kaleb Maurice Carter; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen Hudson; her brother, Danny Miles; her best friend whom she loved dearly as her daughter, Angela Moss; and many special family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Moe Carter; her parents, Cleo and Willie Mae Miles; her sister, Frances Todd; and four brothers, James Todd, Carl Todd, Bobby Todd, and Jerry Miles.

The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Judy will be 11:00 am Friday, July 11, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to The Lancaster Children's Home, LLC, P.O. Box 416, Lancaster, SC 29721.
