Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home and Crematory on Jul. 12, 2025.
Judith Agnes Cochran Goodrich, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away July 10, 2025 surrounded by the family she so dearly loved.
Born in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky on February 24, 1953, Judy was the cherished daughter of the late Jefferson Fred Cochran and Chadie Friend. She was proceeded in death by Patricia Ann Cochran Adkins and Jefferson Fred Cochran (Freddie Jr.) Her early years were spent in Martin, Kentucky, immersed in the warmth of close-knit family and Appalachian tradition. Around the fifth grade, her family moved to Bellefontaine, Ohio-a town that would become her forever home.
In Bellefontaine, she met the love of her life, David Wayne Goodrich. Judy and Dave were married on September 21, 1985, and began a journey together filled with laughter, love, and just the right amount of head-shaking and "David Waynes." Judy graduated high school and dedicated 52 years of her life to her work as a librarian, starting as a Page and retiring as The Director of the Logan County Libraries, where she was known for her tireless dedication, exceptional work ethic, infectious laugh, and caring spirit.
Their love story reached new heights with the births of their two children, Bryce David Goodrich and Hayley Nicole Chadie Goodrich-McKirahan. Judy and Dave raised them to love the Lord with all their hearts, and Judy's love for her family only grew deeper with time.
Judy welcomed Sarah Kirkpatrick into the family when Bryce found his perfect match. "I couldn't have searched the world over and found a better girl for Bryce," she'd proudly say. Sarah quickly became a daughter in Judy's heart. Bryce and Sarah's daughters, Apphia Rose and Aletta Kate, brought immeasurable joy and a renewed spark into Judy's life as a proud and loving grandmother.
Hayley Nicole married her high school sweetheart, Matthew McKirahan, who Judy affectionately considered a son. Judy (or as Matthew affectionately referred to asNana) and Matthew had a special bond that most sons-in-law do not always get to treasure. She watched Matthew and Hayley's love grow from the young ages of 15 and 16, and knew for a long time that he was the one. Both Bryce and Matthew loved to keep their momma on her toes with their playful teasing-something she cherished more than they'll ever know. Judy was overjoyed to see Hayley become a mother to Everett David, and though her joyoverflowed, so too did her motherly worry, as any good momma's heart naturally does. The bond between Judy and her daughter was nothing short of extraordinary, rooted in love and nurtured in warm daily conversationsthat have shaped her daughter's life forever.
Though Judy made her life in Ohio, her Kentucky roots never left her. She remained deeply connected to her Appalachian family and heritage, carrying the values, strength, and spirit of her upbringing with grace and love.
Judy "Aggie" Goodrich was a woman of steady faith, deep love and gentle wisdom. She touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of family devotion, unconditional kindness, and a laugh that will echo in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be dearly missed by her husband Dave, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her extended Kentucky family, and all those blessed to call her a friend.
