On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Judy Olszewski, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children. Judy, age 80, originally from Chicago and surrounding suburbs until becoming a resident of the Wauconda-Island Lake Area for nearly 50 years.
Judy was the beloved wife of the late Roger, who passed away in 1992; loving mom of Ann, Beverly (Simon) Smith and Frank and cherished Grandma- (G-Dog) of Drew and Makena Smith.
While raising her family, Judy was a hard-working shift manager at a manufacturing plant. Judy also enjoyed volunteering at events such as Habitat for Humanity, Friends of the Library and the Lake County Forest Preserve. Some of Judy's favorites hobbies included reading, crocheting, line dancing and playing cards with friends. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching football and the Bears on weekends, a lifelong Cub fan and in later years became a fan of professional golf (Go Rory).
Judith was born August 8, 1944, to the late David and Margaret Owens; a dear sister of Ruth (Chuck) Maurer, Bill (Janet) Owens, Sue (Mark) Taylor and the late Nancy (the late Gordy) Pitcher and the late Jan Masau; adored aunt and great aunt of many.
Judy will always be remembered as smiling, welcoming, non-judgmental "mom" and friend to many.
Celebration of Life will be held late September at a local forest preserve.
