Judy Ann (Hall) Acklin, age 76, of Bethany Life in Story City, IA, passed away September 30, 2024. She was born July 13, 1948, in Maryville, Missouri to Vernon and Catherine (Clifton) Hall. She was a graduate of Maryville High School in Maryville, Missouri. After high school she moved to Waterloo to live with her sister, where they enjoyed their time being groupies of the Band Shine. While being fans of the band, this is where Judy started to take a liking to one of the band members, Jim. They went on to get married in 1976 in Maryville, Missouri. He passed away in December of 2022. In 2019, Judy moved to Hampton, Iowa to be closer to her daughter.
Judy and Jim had four children, Roberta, Val, David and Magnus. While busy at home with her children, Judy still had time to enjoy her crafts, making plastic candles and doing anything with yarn. One of her biggest joys was spending time with Jim as Mrs. Claus while he was a well know Santa Claus, at numerous private Christmas parties. She even made the time to make the costumes they wore. Judy is preceded in death by her parents and sister Verlene Tags.
Judy is survived by her four children, Roberta (Andrew) Scarrott of Aplington, IA, Val Wilson of Evansdale, IA, David Acklin of Cedar Falls, IA, and Magnus Meyers of Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Hall of Georgia.
