Judy A. (Ruger) Allen, of Medina, NY, passed from this life to the next on Monday, July 14, 2025 at the age of 83, following a short battle with cancer.
Judy was born at home in Holley on May 17, 1942, a daughter to the late Alfred and Clara (Archer) Ruger. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Charles R. Allen, Sr.; her sister, Jean Williams; and granddaughter, Tasha L. Allen.
She is survived by her three sons, Charles R. Allen, Jr. (Sherry Howse), Jeffrey L. (Jennifer) Allen and David M. (Roseanne) Allen; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Joyce Letts; brother in-law, Arnold Allen, Sr.; daughter in-law, Debra Varley; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
During their long marriage, Charlie and Judy were rarely seen apart! They loved to go for rides, going to bingo and playing cards. They were always up for a good picnic. In their younger years, they enjoyed going out dancing wherever Arnie’s band was playing that weekend. Judy retired from Bernzomatic several years ago and enjoyed attending their retiree luncheons. She was a member of the East Shelby Volunteer Fire Co.- Ladies Auxiliary for 52 years. In that time, she served as vice president, trustee and publicity person. Since the auxiliary started having craft shows, Judy was known for her potato salad! Judy was a great cook and some of her family’s favorites were her chocolate chip cookies, meatballs, caramel puff corn, black bottom cupcakes and molasses popcorn. She also made the gravy for every holiday. A memory that Judy and her sisters cherished was on Sunday mornings, they went with Grandpa Archer to the South Byron Store to get a paper and a donut and they got to ride in the rumble seat!
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial dinner given by the Ladies Auxiliary to share memories of both Charlie and Judy on Thursday, July 31 at 6PM at the East Shelby Fire Hall, 5021 E. Shelby Rd., Medina, NY 14103. Donations in Judy’s memory may be made to the East Shelby Vol. Fire Co.- Ladies Auxiliary (address above) or the Knights-Kaderli Memorial Fund, PO Box 684, Medina, NY 14103.
