Judy Marie Davis, 74, of Stroud, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 14, 2025, at 4:19 a.m.
Judy was born on July 12, 1950, to Henry and Marie Brake in Birch Tree, Missouri. She married the love of her life, Eddie Dean Davis, on June 29, 1968. Together, they built a life filled with love, resilience, and devotion to family.
Judy was a compassionate soul who dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked at Angelica early in her career and, in the 1990s, returned to school while working at Carr's Deli to earn her bachelor's degree in education. Her passion for helping children led her to a fulfilling career as a teacher, daycare provider, and later an educator at Sylvan Learning Center. She taught elementary education at Birch Tree, Alton, and Howell Valley. She eventually stepped away from work to care for Eddie during his declining health.
She was immensely proud of her family and found joy in their every accomplishment. Judy also had a deep love for sewing and was known for lovingly making handmade items for her daughters-in-law and family. She found extreme joy in her grandkids and was very proud of and embraced her nickname Grandma Thug! Her creativity and thoughtful touches will be treasured for generations. In her later years, she found spiritual fulfillment attending church in Stroud with Chad and Jennifer.
Judy is survived by her son, Jared and his wife, Chasidy of White Church, MO; her son, Chad and his wife, Jennifer of Stroud, OK; her daughter-in-law, Jackie of Illinois; her cherished grandchildren, Austin Davis of Seymour, MO, Jaksyn Davis of White Church, MO, Chandler and Parker of Stroud, OK, Lydia (Sarah) of Mountain View, MO, and Kaleb Davis; one sister, Shirley Mills and husband, Bill of Canute, OK; one brother, George Brake of Birch Tree, MO; and one sister-in-law, Elaine Brake of Willow Springs, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; her beloved son, Heath; her parents, Henry and Marie Brake; her sisters, Lorene Wolford and Earlene Pierce; brothers, Bill Brake and Donnie Brake; two sets of infant twins; and numerous in-laws.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Birch Tree, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Brake officiating under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Birch Tree. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a local children's charity or educational foundation in Judy's memory. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
