Julie Elyn Aumueller, age 66, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on June 28, 2025, following a four-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Julie was feisty, fighting diabetes most of her life and defying the decline of her memories, recognizing her family until the end. As a young child in Iowa, her joy was playing baseball with her friends. As she got older, she developed a love of the beach, and it was her happy place. Julie enjoyed cooking and especially loved fireworks over the 4th of July. Her grandchildren were her life’s greatest joy in her final years.
Julie was born November 9, 1958, to Albert and Charlotte Beyer of Pella, Iowa. She was the youngest of their four children. She was adored and doted on by her parents and older siblings. Her family soon moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa, where Julie attended Oskaloosa Christian School and Bethel Christian Reformed Church. In 1971, the family moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. There, Julie attended Sylvan Christian Middle School. She then moved with her parents to Muskegon, Michigan, in 1973 and attended Muskegon Christian High School, graduating with the Class of 1976. After high school, Julie became a travel agent and moved to Ohio to be near her sister Mary, with whom she had a very special relationship. During that time, she worked in the hotel industry in Columbus. While there, she married and was blessed with two children. Her daughter Jessica was born in 1983, and her son Christopher followed in 1985. Her children and eventual grandchildren were the light of her world.
After her divorce, Julie returned to the west Michigan area with her children, where she attended Fair Haven Reformed Church. She lived with her daughter, Jessica, for the last 12 years of her life in Wyoming, Michigan. After witnessing her own mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s, Julie changed occupations, becoming a caregiver. She was a hard worker, dedicated to her patients, who appreciated her tender, gentle care. She watched over others until her condition no longer allowed her to continue her work. Her daughter Jessica lovingly cared for Julie in her home during her final four years as she struggled with Alzheimer’s until the last few months of her life.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Charlotte Beyer, brother and sister-in-law Gene and Joyce Beyer, sister Mary Kinnisten, and an infant brother. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Jessica (Peter) Fontan and Christopher (Melissa) Aumueller; brother John (Stephanie) Beyer and brother-in-law Phillip Kinnisten; grandchildren Samuel Fontan, Gabriella Fontan, Thomas Fontan, Ava Aumueller, and Cason Aumueller; and all her nieces and nephews.
Rest easy and find joy in the presence of your Lord, Julie.
