Julienne Clawson Johnson passed away on July 20, 2025, in her home in Jerome, Idaho, surrounded by her family. She carried herself with grace and elegance throughout her life, despite living much of it in pain. She was greatly admired for this. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony never wavered. She loved her family dearly, including her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Julienne was born on February 11, 1948, in Pocatello, Idaho, to George Christiansen Clawson & Ethel Viola Jensen. She lived at Clawson’s Peaceful Acres along with her 4 brothers, James, John, Gary, and Jed, and a sister, Cleta Jeanene, who died in infancy. They spent countless hours at the family piano, which is where her love of music was forged. She even sang a little just days before she died.
She attended Highland High School in Pocatello. During her senior year she met and later married her husband, Charles Richard Johnson. She did not like him much at first, but his persistence wore her down and they were married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple on June 15, 1966. They settled in the Groveland area outside of Blackfoot where they spent much of their remaining lives with their 5 children.
Julienne was blessed with the gift of music. She played the piano and sang. She starred in the Blackfoot community production of the Music Man, playing the female lead, Marian the librarian. This was quite the achievement for her, especially since her high school music teacher said she would never sing. She continued to sing at various functions around the community, most often with her dear friend, Evelyn Young.
In 2018 Charles and Julienne moved to Jerome, Idaho, where the community embraced them and they made new friends there. She began making beautiful quilts a year later. She gave them to family and friends and donated many to the local hospital as well.
Julienne was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; and husband, Charles.
She is survived by her 5 children, Charles Richard, Jr. (Kris Ann), Robert Troy (Dana), Bradley Nels, Jennelle Anne, and Camille Anne (Nathan) Tracy; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 26 N 100 E, Jerome. Burial will conclude at 3:00 pm, at the Groveland Cemetery, 426 W 200 N, Blackfoot. All are invited to attend.
Flowers may be sent to Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 S Lincoln Ave, Jerome, or Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling Ave, Blackfoot.
