Karen was born February 14, 1961 in Hagerstown, MD, the daughter of Aubrey W. Hutchison and Mary E. Hutchison. Karen grew up in Central Maryland and graduated from Clearspring High School in 1979. She then enlisted in the US Air Force in 1980. She was honorably discharged in 1985. She married Charles E. Atkinson in 1980 and they had two children, Clayton and Ashley. On May 11, 2006, Karen married Kevin Baumann, blending families with Kevin’s three children: Sheena, Jeremy and Kayla. Karen worked in the medical supply chain and billing departments of various practices and hospitals throughout her career. Karen dipped her toes into the retirement pool in 2023 and embraced it for a short amount of time before her passing. She loved to laugh, spend time with her friends and family, and crafting. She also enjoyed traveling to Maine, sipping an ICEE, watching Shemar Moore, and hosting friends and family. Karen was most proud of her family and having them all together in her final moments.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Kevin, her children, Clayton and wife Sara and their children Madelyn, Isabelle, and Jacob; Ashley and husband Josh and their children Mahailey, Jaxon, and Dalton; and step-children Sheena and husband Chris and their children Damian, Genesis, Zoe, Taylor, Harper, and Presleigh; Kayla and husband Matt and their children Matilynn and Millie; and Jeremy’s daughter Bella.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary, and step-son, Jeremy Baumann.
