Karen Reneta Bloomingdale, a beloved resident of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7th, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on March 6th, 1940, in Marietta, Ohio, Karen lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Karen was a proud graduate of Marietta High School, class of 1958. She went on to build a successful career as a Senior Administrative Assistant at Bank One, where she worked diligently for 25.5 years before retiring in 2002. Her commitment to excellence and her warm personality left a lasting impression on her colleagues and friends.
A dedicated member of the National Secretary Association, Karen was known for her organizational skills and her passion for helping others. Her love for animals was evident in her support for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, 90 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, OH 45750, where memorial contributions can be made in her honor.
Karen was preceded in death by her loving parents, Harold H. Sheppard and Gladys L. Sheppard, her devoted husband, William "Bill" Lee Bloomingdale, whom she married on August 10, 1958, and her two brothers, Ross Sheppard and Harold Sheppard.
She is survived by her cherished family: two sons, Bill Bloomingdale (Gail Holland) and Tom Bloomingdale; her daughter, Kelly Holland (Michael); and her eight grandchildren, Eric, Tori (Jason Williams), Ash, Ethan, and Mariah Bloomingdale, Alli Benson (Cameron), Cody (Cierra Meredith), and Rylee (Derik Hesson) Holland. Karen was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Carson, Carly, Alaina, Parker, Colten, Gracelynn, and Ryder. Her sister, Peggy Herron (Rodney), along with many nieces and nephews, also survive her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home in Marietta, Ohio, on Friday, July 11th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service to celebrate Karen's life will be held at the same location on Saturday, July 12th, 2025, at 11:00 am. Following the service, Karen will be laid to rest at East Lawn Memorial Park in Marietta, Ohio.

Karen's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will forever be cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and community.
